Judith Peraino’s “I’ll Be Your Mixtape: Lou Reed, Andy Warhol, and the Queer Intimacies of Cassettes,” published in the Journal of Musicology, has been honored with two awards by the American Musicological Society. The article received both the H. Colin Slim Award for a musicological article of exceptional merit published in any language and in any country by a scholar who is past the early stages of her or his career and the Philip Brett Award for exceptional musicological work in the field of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender/transsexual studies at this year’s annual meeting of the American Musicological Society.
We’re celebrating the awards by making the article free to read online for a limited time.
We also invite you to revisit a conversation with Peraino and fellow Journal of Musicology contributor, Tom McEnaney, discussing Peraino’s award-winning article and McEnaney’s work, which we posted last year on this blog.
