About the Book

Drawing on four decades of work and including new poems published here for the first time, this selection of Mei-mei Berssenbrugge’s poetry displays the extraordinary luminosity characteristic of her style—its delicate, meticulous observation, great scenic imagination, and unusual degree of comfort with states of indetermination, contingency, and flux.

“A worthy introduction to her [Berssenbrugge’s] elegant oeuvre.”

“Essentially these poems are demanding. They demand that the reader give up preconceptions and enter their construct. What they return is a poetic view that is more than thinking outside the box but in a universe where there is not box—but language, reflection, and ultimately beauty instead.”
